Audit at the Centre for Chemical Biology (CCB)

On 11 November 2025, the Centre for Chemical Biology (CCB) underwent its scheduled internal audit as part of USM’s commitment to maintaining high standards in research management, laboratory operations, and administrative governance. The audit aimed to ensure that all activities at the centre comply with institutional policies, quality assurance requirements, and safety regulations.

The auditing team reviewed several key areas, including documentation processes, facility management, sample handling procedures, laboratory safety practices, and overall adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs). CCB staff provided full cooperation throughout the assessment, with each unit presenting the required records and demonstrating current practices implemented at the centre.

The audit also included walkthrough inspections of laboratories, administrative offices, and shared research facilities. Auditors highlighted the centre’s strengths, such as well-maintained equipment, consistent documentation practices, and strong teamwork among researchers and support staff. Minor recommendations were also shared to further enhance efficiency and ensure continuous improvement across operations.

Overall, the audit session was successfully completed, reinforcing CCB’s commitment to maintaining a high standard of research quality, integrity, and safety.
