CCB Compliance Evaluation of CCB Postgraduate Programmes

On 11 July 2025, the Centre for Chemical Biology (CCB), USM hosted a full-day Compliance Evaluation of CCB Postgraduate Programmes, led by the Director, Associate Professor Dr. Rashidah Abdul Rahim, together with our esteemed guest, Professor Clemente Michael Wong Vui Ling from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), who served as the external examiner for the evaluation.

The event took place at the CCB building and was attended by all CCB staff. The Director, Associate Professor Dr. Rashidah Abdul Rahim, provided full support throughout the review session. The evaluation aimed to assess and strengthen the academic programmes offered by CCB, ensuring they meet high-quality standards, align with institutional goals, and reflect the latest developments in research and industry needs. Professor Clemente Michael Wong Vui Ling conducted a thorough evaluation of the programme structure, learning outcomes, course contents, and facilities.

As part of the evaluation process, Professor Clemente Michael Wong Vui Ling also visited CCB’s laboratories, where he had the opportunity to interact directly with students, observing their ongoing projects and work environment. He conducted student interviews, focusing on their hands-on experiences, learning outcomes, and overall research exposure while working in the lab. These conversations provided valuable insights into the student learning journey at CCB. Constructive feedback and insightful recommendations were shared to help enhance the academic quality and overall performance of the programmes.

Additionally, Professor Clemente Michael Wong Vui Ling held an interview session with CCB staff, where he explored teaching methodologies, challenges in academic delivery, and staff perspectives on programme development. These interviews were instrumental in providing a well-rounded evaluation of CCB’s academic and research environment. To mark the occasion, the Director of CCB, Associate Professor Dr. Rashidah Abdul Rahim, presented a souvenir to Professor Clemente Michael Wong Vui Ling as a token of appreciation for his valuable time, contribution, and expertise throughout the evaluation process.

This comprehensive review marked a vital step toward continuous improvement and quality assurance at CCB. The active involvement of both staff and students demonstrated CCB’s dedication to academic excellence and its commitment to nurturing a dynamic, research-driven learning environment. This significant visit not only reinforced CCB’s commitment to academic quality but also served as a valuable platform for staff engagement and institutional improvement.
