Nor Azura Binti Azami is a Microbiology and Molecular Biology Research Officer currently working at the Centre for Chemical Biology, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her current research is focused on cloning, purification and characterization of Alginate lyases and Pactate lyases from Saccharobesus litoralis. Besides, her research also focused on polyhydroxyalkanotes (PHA) degrading bacteria, PHA copolymer synthesis and PHA blend films with natural polymers. She has more than five years of experience in research and has authored more than ten research articles. She has efficient technical skills such as bacterial isolation, gel electrophoresis, DNA extraction, PCR, DNA sequencing, DNA cloning, transformation, protein purification, fermentation using shake flasks, RSM, SDS-PAGE and enzyme characterization.

She is in charge of bacterial preservation as well as CCB-MBL services. CCB-MBL is the only bacteria collection and preservation unit available at USM. In addition, CCB-MBL has also been indexed by the World Data Centre Microorganisms (WDCM). This collection of bacteria is open to all institutions and industries for learning or research purposes. In addition, she is also in charge of DNA Sequencing, Primer Synthesis and Microbial Identification via 16S rRNA, 18S rRNA, and ITS region.

Azura started her studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia, where she obtained a BSc Hons and a MSc (Microbiology). Her Master's research focused on the production, purification, and characterization of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) P(3HB) depolymerase enzyme from Burkholderia cepacia DP1.
