Official Visit - RIKEN To CCB

March 2019 — RIKEN Executive Director, Professor Dr. Motoko Kotani, led a group to visit Centre for Chemical Biology (CCB) which included Director of RIKEN's International Affairs Division, Atsushi Kogirima, and Director of RIKEN Singapore Representative Office, Genichi Tsuzawa.  Kotani was in USM to sign the renewal of a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail.  The visit started with an introduction to USM by Asma's special officer, followed by a tour of CCB's laboratories.  During the tour, the RIKEN visitors were shown by Dr. Go Furusawa how a bacterium isolated locally was turned into a bioflocculant that could potentially be used for wastewater treatment.  The tour ended with a show of Dr. Veera’s live insects which were kept in captivity for his research.
