What is it about?

16S ribosomal RNA sequences have been used extensively in the classification and identification of Bacteria and Archaea. The comparison of the 16S rRNA gene sequence of an isolate against sequences of type strains of all prokaryotic species provides an accurate and convenient way to routinely classify and identify prokaryotes

{slider=Molecular Identification: ITS &/or D1/D2 Region Fungal Identification}

What is it about?

While filamentous fungi are identified using mainly morphological characteristics, yeasts are identified using biochemical characteristics, such as their ability to utilize carbon and nitrogen compounds. However, these methods are often problematic as there can be different morpho/biotypes within a single species. At CCB, we are offering the fungal identification service by focusing mainly on ITS regions, or D1/D2 regions for up to species level.
